525,600 Minutes--How Do You Measure a Year?

This is the title page to my Project 12 album, my friend Frances and my version of Becky Higgins' Project 365. This is also my first 8.5 by 11 page. It was a challenge to place the photo and still have room for some embellishments (okay, I really wanted a LOT more embellishments). The title is based on the theme song of the Broadway hit musical "Rent." It's the song that's playing in the background.

Just a Dirty Scrapper, I Guess

I tried hard to do myself a clean page--you know, linear, lots of white space, few embellishments. Couldn't take it! I had to redo it--twice. It's still a lot less busy than I would normally do, but certainly not as clean and simple as many I see on blogs and sites.

This page includes pictures of a typical Sunday afternoon at my mom's house, out in the yard, enjoying the sunshine.

Inspired

I LOVE this photo--the muscodine leaves in the foreground framing out my toddler's red hair and pointed finger. He stood there for a good while insisting that I get him some muscodines off the vine. That one inch pointer finger of his is precious and quite sassy.

The softness of the fuzzy vines in the photo inspired me to create a soft layout. And when I think muscodine, I think grandma, so the layout is also a bit vintage.

The layout itself is based on sketch #8 at the sketch site Inspired Blueprints. LOVE that site.

On the Bandwagon

So, I decided to pick a motto for the year. All the words of the year and New Year's resolutions I've been seeing on blogs and layouts finally got the best of me, and I could abstain no longer. Well, I'm wanting to build a house out in the coutry on my grandparents' farm. In order to do that and still be a stay-at-home mom, I've got to learn to cut back. Scrapbooking ain't cheap either! My motto then is one I picked up from another site--Frugal and Fabulous! How cute, eh? If you'd like to join in the badge is in the side bar. Feel free...and start living frugal today!

Valentine Bag Toppers

So, this is what I did today! Yeah, I know, stay-at-home momma has too much time on her hands, but it really was fun. They are little treat bags for my boys to take to school on Valentine's Day. They were super easy and didn't cost me a thing because I used my stash! It only took about an hour or so. Now I just have to fill them all up with M&M's (for the eight year old) and Goldfish (for the one year old). It'll take my eight year old from now until his Valentine's party to get all the names written on there--he piddles.

Country Pie

We spent last Monday at my in-laws' house out in the country. Even though the wind was blowing cold, we played out in the sun almost the entire day. We love the wide open space, the fruit trees, the golf cart, the pond, but mostly the fresh air. We're certainly ready to have our own piece of the country pie!

What a Day!

On Saturday, my best friend and I went to crop at Treasured Memories--our FAV scrapbook store in Lafayette, LA--where I'm on the Design Team for 2009!!! We were there from 11:00 a.m. until the place closed. What a blast! There is nothing like shopping a page while you're scrapping it. That's my first time to do that, but certainly not the last! The following are the layouts that I completed that day. I just LOVE them.

These Faces

I love these two faces. So full of life and energy. Bright, cheerful, lively! They keep me young (and wear me out!), and I love having them in my life.

Another Top Ten

Another layout based on a sketch (I'm addicted!)--this time from PageMaps. Also, this layout was in the Two Peas Top 10 this morning in the eighth spot and got up to number three that afternoon! Woohooooo!!! Thanks Becky Fleck.

Don't Shh! Me

My little one has learned to say "Shh!" Can you see that tiny little finger? How cute is that! I made this page based on the June '09 Becky's sketch at CK Magazine, but I'm not submitting it. Still a great page!
