I'm All A-Flutter

Have you seen the new Bo Bunny Flutter Butter? Such yummy colors and swirls. LOVE it! And just perfect for these sweet photos of my big guy at the park. It makes me so happy that he still loves to swing and slide at the park! I hope to allow him to be a kid just as long as I can.









So, did you see all that doodling going on? Well, that was our challenge this week at Scrapping Out LOUD! In case you missed my doodling, I've outlined the tags and the letter stickers, dotted and drew around the scalloped edge, outlined the photos, outlined the punched butterflies, outlined the background paper, and dotted around the tone-on-tone circles on the background paper. I think all that doodling is such a fun personal touch.

Indian Summer

This month I got to play with the trio kit at 3 Scrappy Boys kit club. As the name suggests, the trio kit includes three different paper lines. Yummmm!!! The September kit contains Basic Grey's Indian Summer, Jillibean Soup's Alphabet Soup, and My Mind's Eye's Stomp. There are still a few of these great kits left.



I had such a great time playing with all the papers and embellishments. I'll be sharing these layouts with you over the next couple of weeks. Today, I have my favorite one using Basic Grey's Indian Summer.

Have You Met Max?

Well, if you visited my blog back in August, then you might remember my sweet little mini daschsund puppy. The newest addition to our family. He's now 13 weeks old, and boy is he a mess! Here he is again.

This layout is based on sketch this week's sketch at 52 Sketches...52 Weeks. I just LOVE all those small squares of paper. Great way to use busy paper on a layout. Also good for using up some stash. That plaid chipboard puppy was too cute to just blend in, so I plopped him on some white cardstock and then accented it with pleated ribbon. Gosh, I love that little fellow! Oh, and one more thing. Do you see that yellow scalloped border? My favorite detail on the whole layout. Anyhoo, I used my Fiskars Threading Water border punch. I just hid the holes in the scallops behind the paper. I really like how it makes that blue patterned paper jump off the red cardstock. Yeah, I need some more border punches. Don't ya think?

For Tonight is the Night

for feeling alright. We'll be making layouts the whole night through. So I'm saving all my love....Yes I'm saving all my love....Yes I'm saving all my love for you! Ahh, yeah, sing it, Whitney!

Can you tell I'm excited to be going to Treasured Memories in Lafayette for my design team meeting tonight? It's group night, so we'll be sharing our layouts and scrapping a new one. Fun times, people! Fun times!

Anyway, at last month's meeting, we were given two pieces of Core'dinations Cardstock, a bottle of Smooch, and a list of challenges. Since my supplies were brown, I grabbed all the new Fall papers in the store and got to work. Here's what I came up with.

So, just how did I use the Core'dinations cardstock and Smooch? I tore a strip of cardstock to use as a border between the two background patterns. When torn, the cardstock's inner color shows through. LOVE that! As for the Smooch, I painted my brads, distressed the metal frame photo corners, and glitzed up the grungeboard. That paint is amazing!

As for those fabric flowers, there's a tutorial HERE at the Pink Paislee blog on how to make them. I was able to make three flowers out of just one of the fabric tags. So versatile!

Oh, and I must also mention that I used a sketch by Jana Eubank. Her sketches are so fun to work with. You can find this one HERE.

Just Imagine

Woo hooo! I was so surprised and excited when Lori from Imaginisce emailed me yesterday to see if she could feature my layout "Art Project" on their blog, Just Imagine. They are starting a new feature called Imaginisce Around the Web. They'll be looking high and low for layouts that use their products. Double Dose

The sketch for this layout is # 31 by Liz at The Scrappiest. Those two trees were right there on the sketch. How perfect for ushering in some Fall weather. Not that we're getting much Fall weather here, but surely some of you are. LOL! Anyhoo, go check out the rest of the design team's layouts. Not everyone's take is as literal as mine, and boy are they great!

My layout was also inspired by this week's challenge at Scrapping Out LOUD! We were told to use a motif (repeated element) on our layout. My motif is two.....two trees, two patterns, two boys, and the number two in my title. There are some amazing takes on this challenge, too.

Another "Pwoject" to Share

"Do a pwoject, Momma?" Can you hear my little two year old asking to do a project? Sweet, hun? He just loves school and is always pretending to do homework and art projects. He rips pages out of magazines and crumbles them up and says, "You see my scwapbook, Momma?" I sure do, buddy.

So, I thought I needed to scrap this precious memory for sure. I took some photos of him painting with watercolors this summer. I paired my soft colored photos with Imaginisce's Teacher's Pet line and came up with this.

Fall Back into Scrapping

Come join us at Scrapperie this weekend, September 18-20, for a fun little weekend crop!

We'll have challenges, games and mini contests galore- so many things you'll be scrapping in no time and never wanting to stop!

(And you'll have until Tuesday, September 22nd to get your challenges done, so there is plenty of time to hang out with all of us on the boards, play games and mini contests AND get all your scrapping done!)

By the Book

Challenge #8 at a la Carte went up yesterday. Grab your back to school photos because this menu is by the book! Take a look.

1. Use a brown paper bag.
2. Use primary colors.
3. Use alphabet stickers as your background.
4. Use notebook paper.
5. Use something that measures.
6. Use the word "first."

Here's my layout using four of the six menu items and this month's amazing Noel Mignon kit "Core Curriculum."





So, which four menu items did I use? I used a brown paper bag for the leaves and stem on my apple. I used the primary colors red, blue, and yellow. For something that measures, I used the report card die cut behind the photos. Hey, it measures progress, so it counts. LOL! And lastly, I used the word "First" in my title.

Bookprint Rosebuds

This week's challenge at Scrapping Out LOUD! is Flowerrific! The challenge is to create handmade flowers for your layout. You can make any type you like, as long as your layout is all flowered up.

For my layout, I created rosebuds out of book print. There's a tutorial for this great technique HERE at Kenner Road. LOVE this!

Finally!

I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use the Craft Fair line by American Crafts. Well, when I saw Liz's sketch for this week, I knew I'd have my chance. The sketch is clean and linear....just what I needed to scrap these sweet photos of my little brother reading the Sunday paper with my little redhead.







To create the word boys in my title, I used my foam stamps on the backside of the brown patterned paper, cut them out, and then outlined them with a red American Crafts pen. I just love how they turned out. And the best part.....I'll always have the letters and colors I need.

Making Mischief

My baby boy can get himself into some trouble! And it usually involves naptime and a mess for me. On this particular occasion, he climbed onto his changing table and emptied all the powder and lotion.....all over him and the changing table. My husband grabbed the camera and snapped some photos before clean up commenced. There have been other, more disgusting events at naptime. No pictures of that, though, promise.

Would ya look at those red 3D glasses that came with my oldest's coloring book? That's a mess, hun? He doesn't even care. Doesn't he look like a little scientist? Gosh, he makes me smile.

The Man Chair

So, we have the biggest, brownest leather recliner possible. I mean with three guys in the house, how could we not have a recliner? It's not my favorite in terms of decor, but it sure is comfortable. Even the two year old loves to sit in it. And since he's low man on the totem pole, he doesn't get to often. When he does finally get a turn, he pulls the foot relase, lays back, and owns it. I had to scrap this memory. Here he is, the Master of the House.







I was so happy to finally use this Jenni Bowlin paper. The rich colors and vintage patterns reminded me of home, so they were a perfect choice for this house themed layout. To warm up the background paper a little, I misted it a bit. Then, I added those cute little chipboard houses by Scenic Route, maker of my FAVORITE chipboards. Hate to see that company go out of business. *sigh*

This layout was completed for this week's challenge at Scrapping Out LOUD! The challenge is in honor of English teachers, Frances's current occupation and my former occupation for fourteen years. You have to use a quote as your title and only one part of speech for your journaling. My title is actually from my favorite musical, Les Miserables. For my journaling, I listed several verbs describing Ethan's attitude about sitting in the recliner.
